Meet Our Speakers

Balazs Bartos MD

MD, consultant anaesthetist and pain physician with over 20 years of experience in anaesthesia and intensive care. Completed pain medicine training in the UK under Professor Jon Raphael. Currently works in Budapest at PSI Pain Clinic and is lead clinician of the chronic pain service at Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Hospital. Member of the British Pain Society with expertise in ultrasound and X-ray guided interventional pain management and regenerative medicine.

Agnes Stogicza MD

Board-certified anesthesiologist and pain physician with 20 years of experience. Completed pain fellowship at University of Washington, served as faculty 2010-2017. Currently works at PSI PAIN CLINIC Budapest. Chair of Hungarian Section of WIP, examiner for FIPP and CIPS Board Certification. Co-founder of Pain School International and lead author of "Interventional Pain, A Step-by-Step Guide for the FIPP exam."

Gustavo Fabregat MD

Specialist in pain medicine and anesthesiology with over 16 years of experience. Coordinator of Pain Department at Ascires Eresa Campanar Clinic in Valencia. Holds European Diploma in Pain Medicine (EDPM) and Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). Board member of Spanish Pain Society (SED) and Associate Professor at University of Valencia. Specializes in ultrasound-guided interventions and neuromodulation.

José Alexandre Carvalho Pereira MD

Senior specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rehazenter Luxembourg since 2009. MD from ICBAS – University of Porto (1999). Clinical expertise spans neurorehabilitation, interventional physiatry, musculoskeletal ultrasound, neuro-urology, and respiratory rehabilitation. Board member of Back to Sport Luxembourg since 2024. Holds postgraduate degrees from renowned universities in France and Portugal.

Andrzej Król MD

Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine at St. George's Hospital, London since 2005. Expertise in ultrasound assessment of nerve injury and dual guidance techniques. Chairman of ESRA/RA-UK Ultrasound in Pain Medicine Course, Chair of ESRA Pain Diploma, and founder of London Pain Forum. Author of 100+ journal articles and main author of "Ultrasound Guided Interventions in Chronic Pain Management" (ESRA 2019).

Prof. Jean-Pierre Van Buyten MD

MD from Vrije Universiteit van Brussel (1980), specialized in anesthesia, intensive care, and pain therapy. Head of Pain Center AZ Nikolaas focusing on neuromodulation since 2004. Scientific collaborator at VUB's experimental anatomy laboratory. Founder of Benelux Chapter of International Neuromodulation Society and chairman of ECMT. Author of 40+ international publications and PhD in "Direct and indirect ganglion stimulation for chronic pain management" (2017).

Guilherme Madaleno Ferreira MD

Interventional Pain Medicine Specialist with experience across Portugal, USA, Canada, and Spain. Medical Degree from University of Lisbon (2014), Clinical Research Scholar at Mayo Clinic, Fellowship at University of Toronto. Currently Senior Specialist at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and Director of Clinical Fellowship Program in Interventional Pain Medicine. Bart Billiet MD

Anesthesiologist and pain specialist at AZ Delta in Roeselare with over ten years of experience in interventional pain management, specializing in neuromodulation. Pioneer in Belgium for dorsal root ganglion stimulation, combining clinical expertise with active research. Currently pursuing PhD at Vrije Universiteit Brussel under professors Maarten Moens and Lisa Goudman, investigating neuromodulation effects on the autonomic nervous system in chronic neuropathic pain patients. Published multiple peer-reviewed articles on innovative treatments including DRG stimulation, occipital nerve stimulation, and bio-electronic implants.

Ella Ver Donck MD - Moderator

Conference Moderator. Anesthesiologist-pain specialist and head of the Multidisciplinary Pain Center at AZ Sint-Jan Bruges. Studied medicine at KU Leuven and specialized in anesthesia, intensive care, and pain management both domestically and internationally, including at Bristol Royal Infirmary in the UK. Active in chronic pain therapy for over 25 years with particular expertise in intrathecal therapies and neuromodulation. Recognized speaker at various international congresses, member of multiple national and international pain associations, and frequent participant in international study projects.

Ophélie Vandemoortele MD - Moderator

Conference Moderator. MD, FIPP, CIPS. Completed medical training at KULeuven, Belgium (2017) and anesthesiologist-Reanimation residency (2022). Fellowship in pain medicine at AZ sint-Jan Bruges. Mayken Gorissen MD - Moderator

Conference Moderator. Finalized medical training at Ghent University, Belgium. Staff member at the multidisciplinary pain center of AZ Sint-Jan Bruges since 2003. Obtained FIPP certification in 2005. Specific interests lie in neuromodulation techniques, including spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal drug delivery for the treatment of chronic pain and spasticity. Strongly values a multidisciplinary approach to ensure comprehensive and patient-centered care. Also part of the hospital's palliative support team, contributing to complex pain management and end-of-life care.

Hannerose Honis MD

Austrian physician specializing in general medicine, interventional pain therapy, and ultrasound imaging of the musculoskeletal and peripheral nervous systems. She is undergoing postgraduate training at LKH Bregenz and lectures at the Medical University of Innsbruck and fhg Innsbruck. With diplomas in acupuncture, manual therapy, and pain management, she actively contributes to international cadaver workshops and education programs. Her research is published in leading journals on anatomy, pain, and surgical techniques.
